The Duxbury Institute for Ecological Resilience & Prosperity advances appreciation and stewardship of Duxbury's unique habitats through Oika Research—a methodology for understanding and applying ecological intelligence from nature to culture. We conduct ecological research and cultivate capacities technology cannot replicate: embodied presence, relational awareness, and the commitments that emerge from a sense of belonging to a place.
While the capacities of ecological intelligence are transferrable to any habitat, Duxbury is our Oikos. From the estuaries and mudflats of Duxbury Bay to the working waterfront at Mattakeeset, the woodlands of the Town Forest, or the cranberry wetlands of West Duxbury, we teach people how to connect to the ecosystems they call home.
Whether you're a young adult preparing for a meaningful career or an established professional seeking to integrate your expertise with deeper purpose, our programs engage Duxbury as a living laboratory.
Beginning Spring 2026 we're conducting Oika research and offering public talks and curated events that connect the ecology and culture of Duxbury.
